Project goals

Powerhouse Parramatta will open with six new exhibitions. This will mark an unprecedented level of exhibition construction activity for the museum.

To enable a strategic approach to construction delivery, Powerhouse seeks to appoint a suitably qualified Construction Advisor or Advisory to provide expert guidance on the planning and execution of construction activities to deliver the inaugural exhibition program.

The appointed service provider will be responsible for providing project planning and construction management services to assist with the coordinating of resources and managing construction delivery partners to ensure that the exhibition program is delivered on time and on budget.

The work will be developed in response to creative, design documentation, functional, operational, and commercial briefs developed by the Powerhouse in collaboration with project partners, Infrastructure NSW, Lendlease and other Powerhouse advisors.

The services will be required for a period of two years from the date of agreement which is anticipated to be April 2025.

Scope

• Construction management and advisory services to deliver complex exhibition construction projects, identifying interdependencies and opportunities to maximise efficiencies to achieve program outcomes.
• Participate in market sounding and sourcing activities to secure construction partners and specialists’ trades required to construct, fit out and deliver Powerhouse exhibitions.
• Assist with value engineering activities and budget forecasting to support sourcing and delivery activities.
• Assist with construction budget tracking and cost control.
• Assist with the coordination of information required by construction contractors during construction programs.
• Develop and implement strategies and tools for continuously monitoring and evaluating construction progress across multiple projects, including risk and contingency management.
• Act as Principal’s nominated representative on GC21 and MW21 contracts.
• Provide expert advice and information to stakeholders on emerging project issues and present recommendations to support project delivery in line with the Powerhouse delivery framework and established project plans, budgets, timeframes and other project priorities.
• Liaise with Infrastructure NSW and Lendlease on fit out access, sequencing and interface with base-build works and commissioning programs.
