Tender Description
The Council of the City of Sydney ("the City") invites tenders for the carrying out of Head Contractor services in accordance with this Request for Tender.
The original statue of Joy was one of the world's first statues of a sex worker. The statue was located at the corner of Stanley and Yurong Streets in East Sydney for 18 months in 1995 before being relocated to its permanent home at Macquarie University.
In June 2024 Council resolved to investigate the feasibility of reinstating a replica of 'Joy' by artist Loui May (nee Fraser) in the location where she originally stood.
Head contractor services are required to work with the artist, the City and Macquarie University to coordinate and manage the entire process of transporting the original sculpture from the university to a foundry for fabrication in bronze, installation of the replica and return of the original sculpture to the University in accordance with these specifications.
Tenderers must submit tenders in the manner required by this document.
