Project goals

The purpose of this tender is to assist the NSW Coroner in relation to the collection and transfer of a deceased person (in Barrier Police District only) where there has been a ‘reportable death’ as defined by the Coroner’s Act 2009(NSW). These services require the following:

  • Prompt and efficient transportation of deceased remains to and from a given location (response time is essential).
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety and dignity in handling and transporting the deceased, ensuring respectful and careful treatment throughout the process.
  • Provide a reliable service with trained and capable staff.
  • Suppliers that have the capability to provide services at all times as bodies can be discovered at any time.

Scope

Mortuary Transport Services are generally requested by the NSW Police Force (NSWPF) or NSW Coroner. These services require that the Supplier collect the body and transport to a given location. The collection and transportation of deceased remains are to be conducted with sensitivity and dignity maintaining respect for the deceased. Safety for both staff and the public must be conducted and adhered to as per the Public Health Regulation 2022[NSW].

The type of service required is the following:

1. Short haul – the conveyance of the deceased from the place of death to the local morgue or other place. Vehicles with refrigeration capabilities are generally required.
