Background
One of the challenges for emerging industries is navigating potential market barriers and developing pathways to market.
The project aims to develop guidelines and a tool to help Australian rural industries identify and address these barriers and challenges. It will cover domestic and international regulatory standards, including food standards, tariffs, import permits and more.
Factors influencing market pathways, such as market knowledge, customer specifications, branding, supply chain processes and logistics will also be considered.
The project seeks to estimate time requirements for addressing market access and pathways to market to help prioritise resources.
This project seeks to develop guidelines and a tool to assist emerging Australian rural industries proactively identify and address market access regulatory barriers and pathways to market challenges thereby minimising the risk of delay or market failure.
Specifically, the project will include consideration of the breadth of market access regulatory barriers, including but not limited to:

• Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) requirements

• Specific licensing associated with restricted products
• Environmental Protection Authority approvals
• Water take and use permits
• Intellectual Property Protection
• International regulatory standards and requirements for target export markets

It will also consider factors influencing pathways to market, including but not limited to:
