Hunter Water Corporation has a fleet of Cisco 3650 network switches deployed across Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP), Water Treatment Plants (WTP) and Depots which are approaching End of Security (EOS) and End of Support. This switch infrastructure will need to be replaced to ensure all hardware is patched, supportable and to avoid security risks.

These 3650 Cisco switches will reach End of Security and End of Support on 31st October 2026, after this date, patch and security updates will no longer be available. This may expose the corporate network to potential cyber-security threats and vulnerabilities, posing a risk to reliability and availability of network communications.

By replacing the ageing switches with new Cisco 9300 switches that include vendor support for ongoing security patches, software updates, and hardware maintenance, this project aims to mitigate service continuity and regulatory risks.
