Council was successful in its application for the Motorcycle Road Safety Infrastructure Grant from Department of Transport and Planning (DTP). The program aims to assist Local Government Areas (LGAs) with addressing key rider safety issues through safety implementation.

Council will be appointing a traffic specialist consultant to assist with scoping and development of motorcycle safety improvements at the following locations:

1. Eildon Jamieson Road

2. Barwite Road at Saligari Road Intersection

Eildon Jamieson Road between Eildon-Jamison Scenic Lookout and Old Eildon Road:

1. Roadside hazards very close to traffic lanes, especially at curves or turns.

2. Sudden unexpected changes in alignment or design speed without adequate warning and delineation at curves (not only).

3. Loose gravel and debris around intersections, especially at turns, curves, and in braking zones.

4. Shoulder conditions leading to frequent loose gravel and debris accumulating along travel path / lanes and / or pavement edge drop-offs.

Barwite and Saligari Road Intersection:

1. Roadside hazards very close to traffic lanes, especially at curves or turns.

2. Loose gravel and debris around intersections especially at turns, curves and in braking zones.

3. Shoulder conditions leading to frequent loose gravel and debris accumulating along travel path / lanes and / or pavement edge drop-offs.

The awarded consultant will be required to provide a Scope Approval Reports (SARs) which will include:

1. Deliverables

2. Risk Based Cost Estimate (RBCE), P50 and P90

3. Concept Designs

4. Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) Spreadsheet

5. Risk Assessment

6. Motorcycle Safety Levy (MSL) Project Proposal Form

The awarded consultant will be required to provide concept and detailed designs for the locations along with providing approved scope approval reports as outlined in the executed funding agreement.
