The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is seeking to understand its options for external support in reviewing and updating a major sustainment contract; and to support its future approach to market for an appropriate contractor.

The users and their needs

Key needs for this external support provider include:

• Review and future maintenance and support requirements, to inform a sourcing strategy which highlights a fit-for-purpose split between in-sourcing and out-sourcing
• Develop a new contract that delivers value for money in the context of complex requirements
• Provide support and guidance through engagement of the new maintenance and support contract

Technical/business constraints

• Canberra based position
• Must receive a suitable Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) within the first 12 months of engagement

Key dates/ milestones

Approach to market for the new maintenance and support services contract is intended for Q3 2025, with an RFT released Q4 2025. This RFI is to help ASD source the right external support to achieve these timelines. Expected duration of the external support contract is 12 months with options to extend.
