The Principal invites Offers from suitably qualified and experienced Consultants for the provision of a Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy (Waste Strategy) for the Shire of East Pilbara.

The Principal provides waste management in the townships Newman, Nullagine, Marble Bar and Cape Keraudren. Due to the population sizes and geographical locations, different waste collection, management and disposal services are available at each town.

The Principal operates three waste management facilities within the region (Newman Waste Management Facility (WMF), Nullagine Refuse Site and Marble Bar Refuse Site), and one wastewater treatment plant and one liquid waste facility in Newman.

A number of resource recovery activities are undertaken at the Newman WMF, including the operation of a Household Waste Recycling Centre and Containers for Change Refund Point, and off-site recycling of eWaste, batteries, tyres, mattresses, scrap metal etc.

The Principal developed the Strategic Community Plan 2022 2032 to set out the community's vision and priorities for the future, and the key strategies and priorities the Shire will focus on to achieve our aspirations. One such key strategy is the development of a Waste Management Strategy, to review current waste management practices and identify improvement opportunities to prioritise over the medium to long term.
